A Both Teams to Score bet asks a single question: will both teams find the net at least once before the final whistle? BTTS Yes wins if both sides score at least one goal, regardless of the final scoreline. BTTS No wins if either team is kept scoreless — meaning a 1–0 win for either side, or a 0–0 draw, settles the bet in your favour. The full-time result is irrelevant. This makes BTTS an attractive market for bettors who want to follow a game without needing to predict the winner — and for accumulators, where BTTS Yes legs can stack consistent short-odds selections to build a competitive combined price.
xGaura's BTTS predictions are built on two complementary data sources. First, each team's xGA (expected goals against) average over a rolling 38-match window captures how many high-quality chances a side concedes per game — a better predictor of future goals against than actual goals conceded, which contain significant variance. Second, each team's clean sheet rate gives a direct historical read on the frequency with which a side prevents the opposition from scoring. These two inputs feed into our Poisson model, which produces match-level scoring probabilities for both teams. We derive the BTTS probability as the complement of at least one team scoring zero: P(BTTS Yes) = 1 − P(home scores 0) − P(away scores 0) + P(both score 0). A tip is published where our derived probability meaningfully exceeds the bookmaker's implied probability.
Across Europe's top five leagues, Both Teams to Score lands in approximately 50–55% of matches, varying by league. The Bundesliga and Premier League tend to produce higher BTTS Yes rates due to their open, high-tempo styles of play. The Serie A and Ligue 1 historically see more clean sheets and lower BTTS Yes frequency. BTTS No is often mispriced by bookmakers who default to offering it at shorter odds than the true probability warrants — meaning there can be genuine value in backing a clean sheet in tightly defensive matchups.
